Callaway, Virginia, USA, August 20, 2008 – SleepSafe Beds, LLC, manufacturer of “The Safety Bed” for individuals with special needs, has been named to Inc. Magazine’s list of the 5,000 fastest-growing, private companies in America for 2008, the publication reported in September.

SleepSafe Beds, LLC ranked as No. 1,277 on the Inc. 5,000 list, which measures companies by revenue growth from 2004 to 2007. Additionally, in the same publication they were ranked as No. 50 in the Top 100 Health Companies.

“SleepSafe Beds is proud to be included in the Inc. 5,000 list of the fastest-growing, private companies in America,” said Gregg Weinschreider, President of SleepSafe Beds. “This honor reflects the innovation of SleepSafe Beds and the tremendous growth that it has enabled us to achieve.”

“As a manufacturer, we are especially pleased to be included on this list,” added SleepSafe Beds CEO Joe Hallock. “While many US companies today are moving manufacturing offshore, we continue to manufacture world-class products right here in Callaway, Virginia.”

“We have carved our niche in the medical and safety bed industry through our dedication to those with special needs. We listen to our customers and continuously strive to provide them with the highest quality products and customer support,” said Sue Plaisance, Director of Sales and Marketing.

Historically the Inc. list has included 500 companies, but this year it has expanded to include 4,500 more dynamic businesses. The top 500 appeared in the September 2008 issue of Inc., while all 5,000 have been featured on Inc.com. In September, all were recognized at the 2008 Inc. 500 conference in Washington, DC.

The furniture facility filled with state-of-the art, computer driven, laser-cutting machines stands beside the Blackwater River in Callaway, high in the Franklin County hills. The facility’s spacious—and expanding— interior carries the scent of freshly milled oak, maple, cherry—and of freshly made espresso and, midday, of gourmet meals prepared for the staff of seven. Welcome to SleepSafe Beds. Relocated to Franklin County three years ago from upstate New York, the company’s founders—CEO Gregg Weinschreider and President Joe Hallock—were drawn to rural Virginia by, among other things, its similarity to their origin.

“It reminds us of where we used to live,” Hallock says. “Except it doesn’t snow as much. There’s a good pool of employees here from the furniture industry, and the cost of doing business is considerably less than New York state.” The company was started in 2001 with the goal of creating and manufacturing safer—and more aesthetically appealing— beds for special needs patients such as children with cerebral palsy, adults with loss of muscular control, and other conditions that can restrict patients to bed for up to 23 hours a day. The loss of motor control can often result in constant stress on the bed and, of course, the potential for harm to the patient. SleepSafe’s founders sought to overcome both problems with their product.” Complete Article
